Mountain Top Church of Christ held its Trunk-or-Treat event on Saturday evening, Oct. 26. Volunteers dressed in costumes and handed out candy from the decorated trunks of their vehicles.

WILKES-BARRE — Commission on Economic Opportunity(CEO) has something big to be thankful for. This week marks the agency’s 45th annual Thanksgiving Project.

Rotary holds Taste of the Mountain Wine Festival

The Mountain Top Rotary Club hosted its Taste of the Mountain Wine Festival on Saturday, Oct. 12, at American Legion Post 781. Guests were able to sample food and wine from numerous locally-based vendors, and enjoy live entertainment. Raffles and prizes provided by local businesses were also up for grabs at the Rotary club’s festival, which was held for the first time in 2023.

Rice Twp. holds Halloween Extravaganza

Rice Township held its fourth annual Halloween Extravaganza on Saturday, Oct. 12, in the municipality’s park area off of Church Road. The event featured spooky characters on the Treat or Trick Trail, in their Halloween costumes. Completing the trail walk earned attendees free hot dogs, refreshments and a s’more, courtesy of Abe’s Hot Dogs. The extravaganza also featured a pumpkin patch, allowing guests to decorate and take home a pumpkin of their own.

Wright Township holds Fall Festival

Wright Township’s Fall Festival was held on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the township park. The event included s’mores, a hayride, baby goats and pumpkin-related activities. Food trucks and craft vendors were on-site to keep adults occupied, while teenagers were invited to participate in a scavenger hunt. A special storytime took place for the children.

							                                In Concert with the Arts — a volunteer nonprofit effort to bring awareness, appreciation and support to arts and cultural programs and experiences in the Greater Wyoming Valley — recently held free art class titled “Books As Art” at the Marian Sutherland Library. The children, under the direction of artist Olivia Caraballo, created their own storybooks. Firemen’s association to host electronics recycling event

The Wright Township Volunteer Firemen’s Association will host a free electronics recycling event from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 5.

This month’s meetings of the Mountain Top Social Club will take place Oct. 8 and 22n. The Halloween Costume party will be held on Oct. 22.

Mountain Top man starts solar energy business Power from Space

It was about 10 years ago when Corey Poncavage decided he wanted to install a solar power system on the roof of his Mountain Top home. Trouble was, he couldn’t find a company that would do the project for a reasonable price.
