WAPWALLOPEN, Pa. — On April 12, the Slocum Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. hosted its first annual Plant Bingo, where players could win live potted plants to take home. Nearly 120 people attended the event and showcased their support for the fire company.
Brianna Burford, the vice president of the fire company, said: “We are so thankful for the donations from Old Post Farm, the Burd family, Sean O’Neill, and many others.”
While playing rounds of bingo, players and volunteers also enjoyed the food for sale, basket raffles, and special sessions of bingo to ensure many opportunities to win. Burford says that Plant Bingo would definitely happen in the future due to the event’s success. “The community reacted well, with how many people attended.”
A few upcoming events for the fire company include:
• April 25, they plan to host their cheesesteak sale from 1 to 4 p.m.
• Memorial Day Weekend, the fire company will be at I-81 Nuangola Reststop Southbound.
• June 14th, they will have a chicken BBQ, and orders for that event are due June 10.
