Piano students present spring recital

Piano students of Mary Jane Kotansky, Mountain Top piano instructor, presented their spring piano recitals at The First Welsh Baptist Church in Plymouth on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5. Students performed a variety of pieces, which included classical, jazz, traditional, sacred, popular and classic rock. Jake Marich, member of the 2024 Crestwood High School graduating class, was honored at the recital. Also recognized during the recital were students who participated in the 2024 Cynonfardd Eisteddfod held on Saturday, April 27 in Edwardsville.

Rotary Club farmers market underway

The annual Rotary Club of Mountain top Farmers Market got underway on June 30 at Crestwood High School parking lot. Vendors offered a variety of fruits and vegetables, sweets, honey, crafts, information and some smoked cheese.

Wright Twp. fireworks a big hit

Beautiful weather, scores of vendors, music, activities and, of course, fireworks, brought throngs of people to Wright Twp. park on July 3. The fireworks lit up the skies over Mountain top shortly after dusk to the delight of spectators in the park and across the mountain.

With the American Flag hanging over South Mountain Boulevard, the 35th rendition of the Mountain Top July 4 parade stepped off this year with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States.

Crestwood High School Future Business Leaders of America member Shreema Rupareliya earned a 3rd place finish for the Business Communications competitive event at the 2024 Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference. The competition was held in Orlando, Florida from June 28 to July 2.

St. Mary’s holds annual bazaar

St. Mary’s Church, Dorrance, held its annual bazaar on June 22 and 23. In addition to the fabulous potato pancakes, pierogi and haluski, the bazaar took on added significance this year as parishioners bid farewell to St. Jude/St. Mary’s parochial vicar (assistant pastor) Rev. Philbert Takyi-Nketiah who was transferred to administrator of Holy Spirit parish, Mocanaqua on July 1.

Lincoln Bibla took top honors for the second consecutive year at the 17th annual Crestwood High School football team Iron Man competition held at the high school on June 28.
