MOUNTAIN TOP — With springtime fast approaching, it’s crucial to be educated on species of plants and insects that are invasive to your community, your gardens, and waters.
On Wednesday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m., the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library is hosting an educational session featuring watershed expert John Levitsky and the Luzerne County Conservation District. The goal for this session is to learn what you can do to protect the land around you, discover essential tools to identify invasive species, and stay informed about the harmful impact they have on our environment. Questions are strongly encouraged by participants. This event is open to all ages and essential for those who enjoy spending their time outdoors.
Along with this event, there will be another educational all-ages session at the library on April 8 at 6:30 p.m. titled “Dare 2B Aware–Ticks”. This event is hosted by environmental health expert Michele Cassetori and the Wright Township Municipal Park, where participants will learn how to identify ticks, reduce exposure to them, and protect themselves and others this summer and for years to come.
Staying informed about environmental risks will help keep you safe while spending time in the great outdoors this spring and summer.
Those interested in signing up for either session can contact the Kirby Library at 570-474‑1250.
