Freeland — Attorney Richard A. DiLiberto, Jr. ’79, chair of the board of directors, and Theresa Long, head of school, announced the appointment of four new members to the MMI Preparatory School Board of Directors.
Calvin H. Herring ’74 (administrator, Greater Hazleton Area Civic Partnership and the Mountain Council of Governments) was appointed in January and begins his first full year on the board in 2024-25. New board members with terms beginning July 1 are C. Jeffrey Mason Jr. (president and CEO, Leader Data Processing Inc.), Dr. Jennifer Moisey (administrator, Laurels Senior Living Inc.), and John E. Schwear Jr. (financial advisor, Janney Montgomery Scott).
Calvin H. Herring
Calvin H. Herring ’74, who currently serves as the Administrator for the Greater Hazleton Area Civic Partnership and the Mountain Council of Governments, brings a long-time dedication to community service to his role on MMI’s Board.
A Penn State University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, he spent 26 years at the Keystone Job Corps Center, where he held various roles, including business community liaison.
His commitment to service is evident through his 45-year tenure with the Freeland Fire Department, where he has served in multiple capacities, including past chief and current treasurer. Herring has also been actively involved with numerous local organizations, including the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, CAN DO Board of Directors, the Hazleton Rotary Club, and the American Red Cross Hazleton Chapter Board of Directors. He has served as a lector at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Freeland intermittently since 1975 and is a member of the Parish Council. He is the vice chair of CAN DO’s Board and previously served as the chair of the Student Action Committee and Community Relations Committee.
Herring and his wife, Debra, recently celebrated 41 years of marriage and are parents to twins, Jessica Witek and Megan Herring, and daughter, Ashley Herring, as well as the grandparents of Gavin, Jacob and Zofia.
C. Jeffrey Mason Jr.
C. Jeffrey Mason Jr. brings his business leadership experience to the MMI Board, having served as president and CEO of Leader Data Processing Inc. for the past three years after a 27-year tenure with the company.
A Penn State graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business management and certifications in human resources, business law and emergency medical response, Mason has a robust background in both business and community service. He has been an active member of the Board of Troop N Camp Cadet for 10 years, including the last three as president, and has chaired CAN DO’s Property Committee and served on the Executive Committee for the past four years.
Additionally, he is the secretary and treasurer at Beth Israel Temple and is a member of the Cemetery Committee. His commitment to service is further illustrated by his 10-year involvement with the American Red Cross Hazleton Chapter Board.
Mason, and his wife, Lynn, are the parents of Riley Mason ’30, and Zoe Mason, who is entering third grade at Valley Elementary Middle School.
Dr. Jennifer Moisey
Dr. Jennifer Moisey joins the board with a rich background in health care administration. As the administrator of Laurels Senior Living Inc., Moisey oversees the comprehensive management of senior living facilities, ensuring the highest quality of care and services for residents.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in health sciences (PhD) with a specialization in geriatric care from MCPHS in Boston, a Master of Business in marketing and finance (MBA) from Wilkes University, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications, also from Wilkes University.
Moisey’s work experience includes leadership roles in various health care settings, where she has successfully implemented patient-centered care models and innovative healthcare technologies.
In addition to her professional achievements, Moisey is an active advocate for the community, serving on the Hazleton Animal Shelter Board, Mid Penn Bank Luzerne County Advisory Board, United Charities Board, LVHN Board of Associates, Brandon’s Forever Home Board, and CAN DO’s Board. She has been a telethon hostess for the Helping Hands Society since 1991, was the campaign chair for the Greater Hazleton United Way on two occasions, and serves as CAN DO’s Marketing Committee chair.
Moisey, and her husband, Adam Hoover, are the parents of Gianna Moisey-Hoover ’23, Joshua Hoover ’25, Jacob Hoover ’27 and Brayden Hoover ’29.
John E. Schwear Jr.
With a career in the banking and financial services industry, John E. Schwear Jr. brings his fiscal experience and expertise to MMI. He currently serves as a financial advisor with Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, where he is dedicated to providing the highest standard of service in financial relationships, ensuring the growth and protection of his clients’ investments. He holds Series 7 and Series 66 licenses, along with life, accident and health insurance licenses, and is a certified retirement plans specialist (CRPS).
Before joining Janney Montgomery Scott, Schwear held senior positions at PNC Bank and M&T Bank.
He is a graduate of Wilkes University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in writing. He also holds an associate degree in business administration from Luzerne County Community College.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Schwear is actively involved in the community. He serves as chair of the board for CAN DO, is a member of the Hazleton Rotary Club, and holds various other memberships in local organizations.
Schwear and his wife, Lisa, are the parents of John III ’23 and Erica ’26.
