Annie’s Farmhouse Bar and Grill, located just 10 minutes from the center of Mountain Top on Route 437, is fast becoming one of the area’s favorite dining spots.
The restaurant is owned by Annie Davis, a Wilkes-Barre native with nearly a quarter century experience in the hospitality business, who purchased the former Snitko’s Restaurant located at 182 Route 437 just over a year ago.
“I came here to look around for some ideas,” said Davis, who operated Annie’s Tavern and Grill in Wilkes-Barre for a number of years.
“I loved the place so much, I bought it,” she related. “It’s been full steam ahead ever since.”
The restaurant and bar are open Tuesday through Saturday from 3 p.m. to midnight with a full kitchen open until closing. There is plenty of seating in its farmhouse-decor dining room as well as outdoor dining.
“Our food is just like what Mom would make at home,” she said of her menu. “Everything is made from scratch right here in our kitchen.”
Among her customers’ favorites are her meatloaf dinners and her farm burgers. “If you order one of our hamburgers, you’re not going away hungry,” she said of the burgers handmade to order.
The restaurant also features homemade soups. The most popular, she said, is the piggie soup. Other favorites are her baked potato soup and French onion. “We serve our French onion in a bowl, not a cup,” she noted.
Other popular menu items include wings, homemade haluski, pierogi and pigs in the blanket. Even her coleslaw, baked beans and French fries are homemade.
Davis emphasized her restaurant is geared toward family dining and children are welcomed. “We love having kids here,” she emphasized. The restaurant has a $6 kids menu that includes dessert.
The large bar is adjacent but separated from the dining area. It seats about 35 customers with a number of high-top tables along the front window. The bar offers a full selection of domestic, craft and imported beers, wine and mixed drinks.
One of the features of the restaurant that has Davis most excited is the large banquet room that can seat up to 150 people. With its knotty pine walls and ceiling, it’s the perfect location for weddings, graduation parties, bridal and baby showers, office parties, sports, and award dinners. Davis offers a complete catering menu for parties and dinners.
