The Crestwood Future Business Leaders of America had a very busy November promoting awareness of American Enterprise and overseeing a food drive for local families.

Nov. 15 was American Enterprise Day.

This day is used to celebrate the importance of free enterprise in the US economy. The Crestwood FBLA celebrated this day by holding an assembly to help students learn what free enterprise is and how it helps to support our local economy. Four local businesses spoke to the students and answered questions about owning a business. The business owners that participated were: Frank and Jackie Dogherty of Pizza Bella, Chris Huntzinger of Huntzinger’s Karate, Jordan Kotowski of Abe’s Hot Dogs and Jerry Orloski of Orloski’s Car Wash and Lube.

During the month of November, the chapter held a food drive with all collected items being given to the food bank at St. Paul’s Church. The Crestwood Secondary Campus teachers and students were generous enough to donate five truckloads of non-perishable items to the food bank. Chapter members also volunteered at the church to help sort and box the food. The chapter is advised by Crestwood business teacher, Mrs. Christy Laubach.
