WAPWALLOPEN — On May 24 and 25, the Slocum Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. hosted its bake sale, which took place at I-81 Nuangola Rest Stop Southbound.
There was, along with many homemade baked goods, pulled pork offered for purchase during their event.
Briana Burford, the Vice President of the fire company, said the best sellers were “the homemade cookies and the pulled pork,” but noted they sold out of everything during the event. “We had a good turnout, especially considering the holiday weekend.”
Burford continued by saying, “This is the second year we have done this, and will continue to do so as long as the state allows non-profits to have this opportunity during holiday weekends.”
Some upcoming events for the fire company include: the Annual Slocum Township Fire Co. Bazaar on July 17 from 6 to 11 p.m., July 18 from 6 to 11 p.m., and July 19 from 2 to 10 p.m., with a parade starting at 4 p.m. on the final day.
To stay up to date on upcoming events, follow the Slocum Township Volunteer Fire Company on Facebook and message them for more info, food/event orders or if you’re interested in volunteering.
