Whether you are an experienced artist or just looking for a new hobby, look no further.
The Hazleton Art League has released it’s spring 2022 class schedule.
The Hazleton Art League, located in the Hayden Family Center for the Arts (formerly known as the City Arts Center) is considered the focal point of the newly re-branded Arts and Innovation District in downtown Hazleton.
With the help of community members, families and local businesses the league was able to turn the nearly 115-year-old Hazleton’s First National Bank into a fully renovated space dedicated to expanding the arts. The building is home to classrooms and studios for digital arts, glass work, pottery, drawing, painting, has meeting and exhibition halls and a fully functioning commercial kitchen for cooking classes.
The league’s mission statement is simple:
“The Hazleton Art League fosters and promotes the arts through education, exhibitions and cultural events for the benefit and enrichment of the Greater Hazleton Area community.”
They continue to become a “thriving, creative space where our cultural community can participate, educate, and celebrate in the power of unique individual expression.”
Taught by local artists and teachers, the current spring 2022 class schedule includes, Into to Drawing, Intro to Art, Stained Glass, Metalsmithing for Beginners, Psyanky Eggs Decoration, All Levels Vinyasa Yoga, and two different clay pottery sessions. There will also be three different workshops for those who’d prefer less commitment, or who want to try everything. Workshops include jewelry design, cake decorating and pottery.
March is also Member Month at the league. Members are encouraged to be part of the Annual Members Exhibit, which opens on March 4 and runs through March 26. The league will also host a “Coffee Talk” on Sunday March 6, which will include a casual discussion about works of art with the artists, and a Member Dinner on March 24, with music, guest speakers and a buffet style dinner.
