WRIGHT TOWNSHIP — In February, Abe’s Hot Dogs celebrated its fourth anniversary.

To celebrate, Abe’s owner, Jordan Kotowski, wrote about his beginnings:

“4 years ago I did the scariest and craziest thing in my life: bought Abe’s Hot Dogs. Never did I think I’d have so much fun and meet so many great people!! It’s not just a job, because everyone that comes in feels like an extension of my family, and I love talking to everyone and hearing your stories. Here’s to a great 4 years and hopefully another 44 more!!!”

The restaurant celebrated with $1 Hot Dog Day on Feb. 5. The event ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you missed this one, don’t worry. Abe’s is planning another $1 Hot Dog Day in April to celebrate the weather getting nicer.

Beginning Friday, March 4 through Easter, Abe’s will be hosting $5 Fridays. Menu items include Fish & Chips, Crab Cakes, Clam Strips or a Shrimp Basket served with fries in honor of Lent. Pierogies (4 for $3.75) and Mini Potato Pancakes (10 for $3.95) will also be available.

Abe’s will also be giving back to our local Veterans this month. In partnetship with the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, the shop will be bringing hot dogs to clients at the center.

The restaurant is reaching out to community members to help them spread joy to the vets by creating cards, drawings and well wishes to thank the veterans for their service, and to let them know they are appreciated. Abe’s will be accepting the cards until March 12th. They are also accepting gift cards for various stores including Walmart, Target, Price Chopper, Sheetz, Wegmans and Sunoco to help the veterans in need.

Nikki Guest, who is working with Abe’s to get the donations explains “as you can imagine, there are SO many different situations in which our veterans need help. Just a few examples: at the end of the month after paying their rent and their bills, they might not have money for food or gas to go to work and some just need a warm coat. They are helped with their all their needs from the gift cards.”

In just four short years and through hard work, the restaurant has been able to take their success and become a source of unity, kindness and joy for the Mountain Top community by giving back in many different ways. Abe’s continues to spread happiness and bring great food to the community.
