A beautiful mid-September day brought out hundreds of people to the annual Trooper Ree and Eddie Engler Memorial Motorcycle Ride and Concert held Sept. 10 at American Legion Post 781, Church Road, Mountain Top.

Nearly 100 motorcyclists participated in a ride that departed at 11:30 a.m. The celebration began at 1 p.m. and continued to 9.

Throughout the day, attendees were entertained by music from Kelly-Reilly Duo, Hangin’ with FOG, North of 40, and Alibi, all who donated their time and talent for the event. There was a basket raffle with over 100 prizes as well as plenty of homemade food.

The memorial benefit was started in 2013 in honor of the late Pennsylvania State Trooper Royce (Ree) Engler by his brother Eddie Engler and his family. Ree passed away in a motorcycle accident in August of 2012. The memorial fund was created raise funds to the Pennsylvania State Police Troopers Helping Troopers Foundation, which aids fellow Pennsylvania State Police families in their time of need. Eddie Engler passed away unexpectedly in July of 2016 due to a heart condition. The family continues to hold the benefit each September in honor of the brothers.

A portion of the proceeds from the event each year are donated to a selected local organization in honor of Eddie, as well as continuing the donation to Troopers Helping Troopers in honor of Ree.
