Scout troop to hold corn hole tourney
Boy Scout Troop 434 will host its inaugural amateur corn hole tournament at 6:30 p.m. on March 31 at Skateawat in Wilkes-Barre. Doors open at 6 p.m. The entrance fee is $20 a person for the double elimination tournament. There will be raffle baskets and a 50/50. Entrants must preregister by March 21. Roads a hot topic as officials meet
Representatives of a half dozen businesses in the Crestwood Industrial Park and state, county and municipal elected officials along with Crestwood School District and community leaders met at the Wright Township municipal building recently for what officials hope will be the first of regular bi-monthly sessions to address issues affecting the Mountain Top community.

Saint Jude School captures two Wyoming Valley Catholic League titles
There was a whole lot of excitement at Good Shepherd Academy’s Gym this past week, most especially if you were sitting in the Saint Jude Nomads section. Both the fifth- and sixth-grade boys’ team and the fifth- and sixth-grade girls’ team took home top honors as they captured the Wyoming Valley Catholic League titles. The boy’s team – led by coaches Kevin Zurawski and Brian Gryboski – beat Good Shepherd Academy with a score of 27-22. The girl’s team – led by coaches Jonathan Bilbow, Mike Bartholomew, Jeff Sweet, Kevin Millard and Dan Fauerbach – took home the title with a 20-12 win over Saint Nick’s/Saint Mary’s.

Dr. Seuss Celebration at Saint Jude School
“The more you will read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you’ll go!” These words from Dr. Seuss resonated in the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms at Saint Jude School as they celebrated Read Across America. Each student chose his or her favorite story and “dressed the part” as they came in costume to school for the day. Students played games, read stories and heard rhymes from the famous author, as his birthday is a focus of Read Across America.
