The quiet town of Mountain Top is quickly learning Spanish soccer, and the town isn’t so quiet any more.
The town is celebrating the amazing success and outstanding ability of four youth soccer players and their coaches.
Hundreds of players from several states and countries recently gathered in Philadelphia to participate in soccer competitions. The best of the best have been invited to play in Barcelona, Spain, at the Barcelona Academy for Soccer.
Offers to play abroad are awarded to young players who exhibit exceptional talent, skill and respect for the game. Only a select few are awarded this honor from the many who compete. It is a triumph for this local community, especially since all four of the chosen youth soccer players are members of the same team.
Daniel Benyo, Hunter Kruk, Christopher Mcgeer and Landon Sadowski are planning to travel to Spain this spring to participate in the Barcelona Academy where they will learn the “Barca” style of soccer.
These four players are members of Mayhem, the local competitive youth soccer team located in Mountain Top. The team is coached by Raymond Kruk and JJ Iracki.
Soccer is one of the fastest growing youth sports in the United States, with an estimated 14 million youths participating annually.
