Tuskes Homes to pave emergency access road
Wright Twp. supervisors approved a resolution at their July meeting that clears a hurdle for the Grove Development. The resolution approves a gated emergency access to the project. Tuskes Homes has agreed to pave the 20-foot-wide access road to the end of the existing North Sunset Road. The developer agreed that the access road will not be used for construction vehicles.
Wright Twp. is seeking bids for two infrastructure projects
One of those is the swale repair project on Mountain Road in Green Mountain Estates. That work, expected to cost about $170,000, will be funded by a $530,000 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant the township received from Luzerne County. Rutledge Excavating previously was awarded a contract for stormwater repairs in the development through the same grant.
The township also is seeking bids for milling and paving a section of South Church Road. That project, expected to cost about $100,000 will be funded through a Local Share Account (LSA) grant.
Wright Twp. Supervisors vote to apply for grant
Supervisors voted at their July meeting to apply for a $1,062,332 Department of Community and Economic Development multi-modal grant for purchase of Walden Drive.
Wright Twp, receive funds for shade at dog park
The Wright Twp. Environmental and Recreation Inc. (501C3) received $7,500 from the Luzerne County Association of Realtors for purchase of a shade structure for the dog park. The structure is expected to cost about $20,000. The township recreation committee has raised the money needed for two small shade structures.
Wright Twp. reminds community of signage ordinances
Wright Twp. officials remind businesses and residents that billboards or advertising signs are only permitted along township, county or state rights-of way in I-1 (Industrial) zoning districts. Roadside signs in violation of township ordinances will be removed and stored at the municipal building for 30 days. Afterwards, they will be discarded.
Dorrance and Wright Twps. will use grants for new vehicles
Wright Twp. will use a Local Share Account grant to purchase a Mack MD6 truck from M&K Truck Centers for $96,293. The cost to upfit the vehicle with dump body, plow and spreader will be an additional $69,306.40.
Dorrance Twp. is moving forward with the purchase of a new truck. The township received a $70,000 Local Share Account grant from the Commonwealth Financing authority for the purchase of a new Freightliner truck. The township applied for $210,00 for the purchase. General fund money will be used for the difference in the cost of the vehicle.
