With the American Flag hanging over South Mountain Boulevard, the 35th rendition of the Mountain Top July 4 parade stepped off this year with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States.
The flag was hung over the roadway courtesy of American Arberpro owner Joe Corner.
Led by the Corvette Club and the American Legion Post 781 Legion Riders, this year’s parade honored Mountain Top historian Joe Kubic as its grand marshal and the Mountain Top Historical Society for its efforts to preserve the history of the area.
Thousands of spectators lined the route of the parade which was sponsored by Mountain Top on The Move. Along the way, Crestwood High School cheerleaders energized the crowd and CDE Exotics staff entertained with various reptiles and birds.
The parade ended at the Wright Twp. municipal building where a ceremony was held recognizing Kubic and the Mountain Top Historical Society. State Rep. Alec Ryncavage (R-119) presented Kubic with a citation from the state House of Representatives honoring him for his work to preserve the history of Mountain Top. Congressman Matt Cartwright (D-8th Congressional District) also spoke at the ceremony and recognized Kubic for his devotion to the history of the region.
Mountain Top on the Move president Dianne Hopersberger presented the Mountain Top Historical Society with a plaque which recognized the group’s work to preserve the history of Mountain Top.
