When someone joins Achieve Wellness and Fitness, Dr. Candice Dutko and her staff have a very important goal – to help the client make significant improvement in their health beyond what the health care system is doing.

As a registered nurse with a doctorate in nursing practice, Dutko said she has seen too many people lead a poor existence due to poor health choices. Having worked in hospitals for more than nine years, the founder of Achieve Wellness and Fitness wants to help people stay out of the hospital.

To accomplish this goal, the staff of Achieve Wellness and Fitness, located at 65 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, focuses on each individual client.

“We use a holistic approach,” she said.

Dutko explained that her staff does an “on boarding” with every new client. That process includes use of a biometric scale that analyzes the client’s body fat and muscle mass. This analysis, she said, helps guide the staff in creating a nutrition plan for the client. “We have a lot of discussions about nutrition,” she noted.

Achieve Wellness and Fitness has trained professionals who will help clients design and stick to a diet regimen for long-term success.

Additionally, the ‘on-boarding” includes a movement screen to determine the individual’s challenges and opportunities for improvement.

This initial screening helps the staff design a program for the client that is both challenging, but at the same time doable, Dutko explained. These individualized fitness programs are centered around a client’s goals, abilities and lifestyle.

“As a coach, my goal is to create a fun, comfortable environment for people to explore their fitness and gain more confidence in themselves that extends beyond the gym,” she said.

Some of her favorite people to work with, she noted, are those that are new to fitness. “I love seeing them have those moments where they do something they never experienced before or just walk away proud that they lifted some weights. I love helping people feel more empowered and stronger (mentally and physically) than before they met me.”

With small group workouts, the Achieve community is a source of support and encouragement for its clients, as well as an accountability partner, Dutko related. Unlike most gyms, she pointed out, if a client hasn’t been to the gym in a week or so, they get a call from a coach who asks if everything is okay.

“All of our clients receive weekly check-ins, face-to-face monthly consults, and feedback on their workouts to help optimize their results. If it’s important to our clients, it’s important to us”

For those clients desiring one-on-one training, Achieve Wellness and Fitness offers personalized training. A personal coach works with clients to help build a specific skill set, strengthen weak areas, gain a competitive edge in a sport and stay motivated to reach their goal.

Recognizing that not everyone can work out in-person, Achieve Wellness and Fitness offers the opportunity to receive the support and accountability a coach has to offer to clients who choose to work remotely.

“At the end of the day, we want our clients to be successful,” said Dutko.

In addition to Dutko, the staff at Achieve Wellness and Fitness includes Kathie Bilbow, whose certifications include CrossFit level 2 trainer, USA weightlifting coach, and Certified Functional Movement Specialist; fitness and weightlifting coach Mark Walters; and fitness coach Lisa Chulock.
