St. Jude Knights of Columbus Council No. 6440 of Mountain Top recently recognized the winners of its Catholic citizenship essay contest. The winners were honored following the weekly school mass on Thursday, May 9.

The essay contest encouraged young Catholics in grades 7 and 8 to be more connected to their community and their faith. The theme of this year’s contest was “How can the Catholic Church evangelize in the digital age.” Entrants were judged on grammar, style and how they presented the theme in a way that showcases creativity, imagination and overall development of the topic.

Council No. 6440 awarded prizes to the top three finishers in each category in its local competition with first place winning a $100 gift card; second place receiving a $50 gift card and third place taking home a $25 gift card.
