Preschool and prekindergarten students at Mountaintop Christian Academy spent two weeks learning how they can honor God by protecting the Earth.

Earlier in the year, students planted great northern beans, and they learned several valuable lessons about plant growth. With this knowledge in mind, they tried again by planting marigolds. The students did a great job caring for their plants.Every single flower sprouted.

In ELA, students read Biscuit’s Earth Day Celebration by Alyssa Satin Capucilli, a story about how a silly little puppy helped the Earth. In the library, the students were able to choose their own books about nature. Spiders, flowers, seasons and more were hand-picked topics during their library time.

Prekindergarten students learned about recycling and decided to put a blue recycling bin for paper in their classroom.

All of the students spent time building an appreciation of the outdoors by hiking, playing in the Natural Play Area, painting rocks, drawing with chalk, and exploring the river. Pastor Carrie also held her math stations outside and made use of natural resources as counters.
