At the March meeting of White Haven Borough council, state Sen. David Argall (R-29th District) and state Rep. Mike Cabell (R-117th District) announced the community has been accepted into the Blueprint Communities program. Conducted by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh, the program trains local leaders and works with them to create a community revitalization plan.

Argall noted White Haven has made significant progress to breathe new life into the town, thanks in part to the new entrance to the D+L Trail from Lehigh Gorge State Park and Reading and Northern Railroad – Passenger train excursions from Jim Thorpe and other communities. He pointed out that the Blueprint Communities program will help them take their plans to the next level.

Argall noted the Blueprint Communities has proven successful in other areas of his district. He previously encouraged Tamaqua and Hamburg boroughs to apply for this program.

“When you drive down the street in both boroughs now, it’s impossible to miss the difference,” he said.
