MOUNTAIN TOP — St. Jude Knights of Columbus Council No. 6440 of Mountain Top recently recognized the winners of its “Keep Christ in Christmas” poster contest. The winners were honored following the weekly school mass on Wednesday, March 20.

The “Keep Christ in Christmas” poster was open to boys and girls ages 5 through 14. The purpose of the contest was to help give the students a better understanding of the true meaning of Christmas, and to remind others to remember Christ in Christmas.

Two of the winners from St. Jude School finished in the top three in the Pennsylvania Knights of Columbus statewide competition. Jessica Powis finished first in the seventh/eighth grade category, while Lillian Kempinski was third in the kindergarten group.

Council No. 6440 awarded prizes to the top three finishers in each category in its local competition with first place winning a $50 gift card; second place receiving a $30 gift card and third place taking home a $20 gift card.

The Knights of Columbus is one of the country’s largest charitable organizations, with members donating more than $170 million to charitable and benevolent causes and 70.5 million volunteer hours last year. Among the many public services Knights provide is their long-standing “Keep Christ in Christmas” program, which features faith-based local events and public service announcements.
