Marie (Benedict) Luke, 83, of Seminole, Fla., formerly from Adena, died on Dec. 12, 2023, peacefully at her residence.
She was born Aug. 20, 1940, to Louis and Elvira Benedict. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Newell. She is survived by her brother, Louis (Judy) Benedict, of Pen Argyl, Pa.; children: Mike (Terry) Luke, of Pickerington, Ohio; Wendell (Marla) Luke, of Aurora, Ind.; three grandchildren: Justin (Brooke) Luke, Brittnee (Brian) Kight, Matthew (Pattee) Luke; and seven great-grandchildren: Lucy, Beckham, McKenna, Luke, Ava, Jackson and Cameron. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Adena High School, a retired beautician and later a security guard when she lived in Florida. She found joy in bowling, traveling, being at the beach, rooting for the Ohio State football team as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She was a confidant to her children, and enjoyed attending her children’s activities and sporting events. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.
She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, both in Adena and Largo. Whenever she had the opportunity to socialize and interact with others, it made her the happiest.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Save the Manatee Club, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
A family service will be held in the future.
