When do the ABCs and physics intersect?
When a class full of kindergarten students reads all about falling letters in the classic story “Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom.”
Students read and discussed the story learning all about the poor letters who fell from the coconut tree. “A told B, and B told C, ‘I’ll meet you at the top of the coconut tree.’”
Students were then given foam letters and had to balance them on Popsicle sticks and paper tube trees. Students focused upon the vocabulary word “stacked” as letters were balanced as high as could be until they came toppling down just like in the story.
