The Onvo Travel Plaza located at the Dorrance exit of I-81 recently unveiled the region’s first public EV fast-charging stations. The modern facility, which opened last September, now has two DC fast-charging stations that can each provide electric current to charge two electric-powered vehicles.
Harmon Aulakh, Onvo marketing manager, said installation of the EV fast charging systems was supported by a grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Driving PA Forward program. Aulakh pointed out the fast-charging stations not only are the only publicly available stations in the Mountain Top area, but also the only ones along the I-81 corridor from Harrisburg to the New York State border.
Aulakh, along with Jeff Byard, the company’s chief operating officer, cut the ribbon at Onvo’s grand opening of the charging stations recently. The ceremony was attended by members of Onvo’s management team as well as state and local elected officials.
