Continuing a family tradition, Lincoln Bibla took top honors at the 16th annual Crestwood High School football team Iron Man competition held at the high school on June 29.
His older brother, Magnus, a 2023 Crestwood graduate, won the competition in 2023. Magnus Bibla is enrolled at the University of Buffalo where he will compete on the wrestling team.
Bibla, who will be a junior this fall, was awarded the Tanner Kahlau Memorial Trophy, named in honor of the late stellar Crestwood athlete who was killed in a skiing accident near Lake Placid in 2021. Kahlau, a 2016 Crestwood graduate, excelled in football, lacrosse and ice hockey. The trophy was presented to Bibla by former Iron Man competition winner Jay Popson.
Bibla’s 50 repetitions in the 135-pound bench press helped him pull away from the field. Finishing behind Bibla in a tie for second place were quarterback Jaden Shedlock and running back Logan Rolles. Rounding out the top 10 were Kyla Draina, Aleks Jaskiewicz, Andrew Lenahan, Matt Sklarosky, Jason Swank, James Barrett and Eli Meadows.
In all, 48 players from grades 9 through 12 participated in the event held at the football field. The players competed in five events: 135-pound bench press, tire flip, obstacle course, farmer’s walk and sled push/pull. They also competed in a tug-o-war team competition.
The top 10 finishers competed in the Gator push to determine won the 2023 Iron Man trophy.
