Two Wright Township residents were honored with citations from the state House of Representatives for their volunteer work in Mountain Top.
The citations were presented by state Rep. Alec Ryncavage to Florence Pedley and Carolyn Boone at the March meeting of Wright Township supervisors.
Pedley, who soon will celebrate her 90th birthday, was recognized for her more than a quarter century dedication to the Mountain Top Food Bank at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Peddley, who received a standing ovation from the supervisors and audience members remarked that she intends to continue her work at the food bank.
Boone’s citation noted her more than 43 years of service as an educator in the Crestwood School District. Since her retirement, Boone has coordinated the CEO food distribution which is conducted twice monthly at Crestwood High School. Nearly 500 families benefit from the project.
