Crestwood senior wrestler Magnus Bibla capped off a stellar season capturing sixth place at the PIAA Class AAA wrestling championships held March 9 through 11 at Hershey.
Wrestling in the tough 215-pound weight class, Bibla finished the state competition with a 3-3 record, defeating three of the state’s top 10 wrestlers in the weight class. He won three bouts by decision, losing twice to Jose Garcia of J.P. McCaskey, including a 6-2 decision in the fifth place bout. Overall, Bibla finished the season with a 36-6 record. The 215-pound championship was won by Sonny Sasso of Nazareth High School, who is headed for Virginia Tech.
His brother, Lincoln, also was a state qualifier at 189 pounds. Lincoln, only a sophomore, lost his first two bouts and finished the season with a 26-13 record.
