Mia McGlynn, a photographer and author based in Mountain Top, recently released a highly anticipated children’s story featuring lovable machine characters learning to work together.
Titled “Bigger Diggers,” this story was inspired by the heavy equipment industry, an area of interest that the author spends much of her time around as a marketing coordinator for local equipment dealership, Highway Equipment & Supply Co. McGlynn is an advocate of the trades and hopes that her characters will engage young minds to be curious about machines and operations.
In the story, McGlynn draws a parallel between the different capabilities of every machine and that which is found in life.
“I think children need to be taught from early on, that we are all very different and all have unique strengths that make us special and able to contribute to a team. These differences should be embraced rather than rejected.”
“Bigger Diggers” is a fun and educational story about friendship, teamwork and finding one’s purpose. Main characters Harry Hauler, Vars the Crawler and Lou the Mini Excavator are all construction machines, but each one is unique and has something special to offer. Despite their differences, Harry and Vars learn that working together with Lou and relying on each other’s strengths, can solve even the toughest problems.
McGlynn found her inspiration for the story while photographing equipment and creating content for Highway Equipment & Supply Co. She hopes that through her story, children will take away the importance of acceptance and anti-bullying awareness.
“Bigger Diggers ” is now available in paperback on Amazon and is expected to be available in hard cover and digital formats later this year.
A book reading and signing event will take place at McGlynn’s studio located inside The Grand Bank in Ashley on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2023, at 1 p.m. This reading is ideal for children ages 3 through 8. Author-signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.
