Construction is finally moving forward on the new Dunkin’ at 43 S. Mountain Blvd. in Mountain Top.
Milder weather has allowed crews from Pickett Construction Co., the general contractor, to make considerable progress on framing of the 5,100-square-foot building. Michael Costa of Pittston Realty, LLC. of Acton, Mass., which is building the new Dunkin’ said the opening date is a “moving target,” but the company is hoping for a late-spring, early-summer grand opening.
The Dunkin’ will occupy about 2,000-square-feet of the building which will be located on the 86,700-square-foot lot. The remainder, approximately 3,100 square feet, will be retail space. Costa said there has been tremendous interest in the retail space, but nothing has been finalized regarding tenants.
The existing Dunkin’ is located about one-half mile north along Route 309. Costa described the new location as long overdue, citing among other issues, traffic problems caused by vehicles attempting to enter the property.
The new building will be located about 40 feet from the highway and will have a double drive-thru which should eliminate backup of vehicles onto the highway.
