Join Stairville United Methodist Church, 1790 Stairville Road in Mountain Top for spiritual yoga on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. Bring your own yoga mat. A donation basket will be available and donations are given to the church. The class lasts 1 hour, all levels welcome.

LIBRARY HOURS

Stairville United Methodist Church, part of the New Hope Wapwallopen Charge, has new hours for its Community Library. The hours are as follows: Tuesdays (Toddler Tuesdays) are 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., there will be story time, coloring, crafts, puzzles, and fun; Thursdays are from 1 to 3 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. During library hours there are many books, videos, and puzzles for adults and children to borrow. All are welcome to come on the days and times we are open to check out our wide array of books to borrow for your reading enjoyment. Stairville UMC is located at 1790 Stairville Rd in Slocum. December Teen Book Loot Bag

The M.S. Kirby Library will give out Teen Book Loot Bags. Registration is from Dec. 1 through Dec. 15. Register at the library’s website or stop by the library to fill out a registration form. Get a book to check out along with a holiday craft and holiday goodies to keep.

ART EXHIBITION

The Hazleton Art League is celebrating the final days of its diamond anniversary with a special two-month long exhibition: Arthur Dworin “Works from the 21st Century and Before—Dust, Dance, Light & Form—Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture.” The exhibition runs through Sunday, Jan. 29. Admission is always free and open to the public. COOKIE WALK

St. Jude Parish youth group will host a cookie walk from 9 a.m. to noon on Dec. 10 in the elementary school cafeteria. Fill a box for $10. Bakers are still needed. Consider baking a few dozen cookies. Cookie drop off is between 5 and 7 p.m. at the rear entrance of the school cafeteria. Contact Tricia at tscanlan@stjcorg if you are willing to help.

CHRISTMAS PARADE

The Slocum Township Volunteer Fire Company will hold a Christmas parade at 2 p.m. on Dec. 11. The rain date will be Dec. 18. The parade route will be from the fire house, down Slocum Road, left on to Schmidt’s Road, left on to Lily Lake Road, left on to Blue Ridge Trail, and back to the fire hall. Be sure to stop by the route for Santa to deliver a treat.

CATHOLIC CHORAL SOCIETY CONCERT

The Catholic Choral Society will present an Advent – Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. The choral group will be presenting sacred Advent and Christmas music as well other Christmas selections. The Catholic Choral group will host the combined chorus from St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Marello parishes with directors Michael Sowa and Brandon Jopling. The concert is open to the public free of charge, however, a free will offering will be available.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BOOK CLUB

The M.S. Kirby Library will host a middle school book club meeting from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Dec. 13. The club will be discussing “Hero” by Mike Lupica. Attendees will also enjoy holiday book club activities and holiday snacks will be served. Books are available at the circulation desk. Registration is required. Spots are limited so sign up early. TEEN HOLIDAY GIFT AUCTION

The M.S. Kirby Library will host a holiday teen gift auction for students in grades six through 12 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 17. Teens will receive holiday auction money to bid on wrapped gifts. Teens may get a silly gift or a gift card. Holiday snacks will be served. Registration is required. Spots are limited so sign up early. Register at the M.S. FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

Stairville United Methodist Church is hosting a Christmas family movie night at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Children and adults are invited to attend a showing of “The Polar Express” on the big screen. This is a free event that includes snacks, drinks and the movie. A special visit from Santa and one of his helpers surely will delight the children. There are chairs in the fellowship hall, however children are urged to bring sleeping bags, beanbag chairs, etc. for comfort. Pajamas are not required but encouraged just like in the movie. CHRISTMAS COOKIE SALE

The Nuangola Library, located at 5150 Nuangola Road in Nuangola, will be holding its annual and very popular “Christmas Cookie Sale” on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is invited to stop by the cookie sale and choose from the many varieties of homemade cookies that will help make your holiday preparations easier! The sale will also feature local artisans offering homemade holiday crafts, pottery, jewelry, paintings and more. Raffles featuring a $25 Visa gift card, photograph from a local photographer and a hand-quilted Christmas table runner made by a local quilter. If you would be interested in becoming one of our vendors, space is limited, and cost for a table is $20 with all table proceeds going to the Nuangola Library to help with the library’s on going operations and scholarship awards. KRISPY KREME SALE PICKUP

The Slocum Township Volunteer Fire Company is holding a Krispy Kreme Donut sale. Orders are due on Jan. 15. Orders can be picked up on Jan. 22. Chocolate-iced, raspberry-filled, lemon-filled and cream-filled donuts are $12 a half dozen. Glazed donuts are $12 a dozen. Smooth, decaf and rich coffee is $10 per 12-ounce bag.
