The Saint Jude School and Parish Community celebrated eight Scouts BSA who earned the prestigious Ad Altare Dei medal in Catholic Scouting on Oct. 2. Ad Altare Dei is a program developed by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS) for Boy Scouts of the Catholic faith. Its purpose is to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person by encouraging him to actively live out his Catholic Christian faith. Students worked for eight months on the medal, seen as only the second hardest medal to earn in scouting, next to the Eagle Scout Award. Only eight scouts earned this medal in the diocese last year, and all eight were from Saint Jude Parish.
