The Crestwood girls tennis team recognized senior members with a ceremony in September.
Head Coach Scott Lenio shares,
“This year’s seniors were a great group to work with,” Coach Scott Lenio said. “From veteran starters to newcomers to the team, their leadership and passion for the game were an enjoyable experience for the coaching staff to work with them. The coaching staff and the rest of the team wish them well on their academic and athletic endeavors.”
The senior members of the team are:
• Jean Bonn, singles: Jean is the daughter of Dave and Joann Bonn. In addition to being a tennis captain, she dances at Encore School of Dance, is vice president of French club, a member of the national honor society and French honor society, and she participates in Interact Club and Key Club. Her favorite memories include playing matches with friends at practice. Future plans are to attend college and major in neuroscience.
• Julia Glowacki, doubles: Julia is the daughter of Jen Malinowski and Rob Glowacki. In addition to tennis, she is president of the Interact Club and served as a captain for varsity lacrosse and basketball in her junior year and a tennis captain this year. She is a member of the National Honor Society for five years and the French honor society for two years. A newcomer to tennis, her favorite memory was when her doubles partner, Liv, and she were playing doubles, she hit the ball then dropped her racquet, and still ended up winning the point. Julia plans to attend college next year.
• Olivia Jardine, doubles: Olivia is the daughter of Ann and Anthony Jardine. In addition to also being tennis captain, she is on the lacrosse team and is a member of the National and Spanish honor societies, Key Club, Math Club, and Enviro Club. Another newcomer to tennis, her favorite memory was when her doubles partner, Julia, hit her with the ball in the middle of the match. Olivia plans to attend college for nursing.
Samantha Olszyk, doubles: Samantha is the daughter of Karen and Joseph Olszyk. One of the more experienced players on the team, in addition to being a captain she is also a member of varsity track and field where she competes in the long jump, and she is also a member of Key Club, an honors student, and a volunteer at the SPCA animal shelter. Samantha’s favorite memories include making districts, bus rides with the team, falling during matches (especially against Dallas last year), and teaching the JV girls. Samantha plans to attend college for Business Management.
Madison Van Gorden, doubles: Madison is the daughter of Eric and Janet Van Gorden. She played tennis since childhood and was on the team for four years; she is another senior captain this year. Besides tennis, Madison is in theater, the National and Business honors societies, and the chess club. Her favorite tennis memory was the Delaware Valley match tie breakers that went on most of the night with Crestwood finally winning. Madison plans to attend Bloomsburg University’s honors program, majoring in psychology with a focus on adolescent medicine. She also plans to play tennis in college.
