Join Stairville United Methodist Church, 1790 Stairville Road in Mountain Top for spiritual yoga on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. Bring your own yoga mat. A donation basket will be available and donations are given to the church. The class lasts 1 hour, all levels welcome.

LIBRARY HOURS

Stairville United Methodist Church in Wapwallopen has opened a Community Library located in the church on Tuesday, July 12. The library is open for adults, young adults, and children with a variety of books, games, puzzles, and videos to take out for their enjoyment. Eventually there will be story hours, crafts and more to do during library hours. The library will be open Tuesday, Thursday 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church located at 1790 Stairville Rd. in Wapwallopen. FISHING DERBY

The Greater White Haven Chamber of Commerce will hold its second annual prize fishing derby. Each fish will be tagged with a a safe removable tag containing your business, organization or family name. Each trout will be placed in several local areas of the Lehigh River. Anglers will remove the tag from the trout and take the tag to White Haven Market and receive a $25 cash prize. Posters will be updated as the trout are caught throughout the season and posted in the windows of sponsors as will as social media pages and websites. A main banner will be displayed with all our sponsors by the caboose and updated throughout the season. Sponsorships are available for tthe following costs: The Big One, 24 inch, $175; trout sponsorship, 20 to 23 inch, $150; and Trout Sponsorshup, 18 to 19 inches, $100. All sponsorhips are due by Friday, March 25, and must be paid in advance. FALL FLEA MARKET/CRAFT, FOOD AND BAKE SALE

Stairville United Methodist Church is hosting a Fall Flea Market/Craft, Food and bake Sale on Saturday, September 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1790 Stairville Rd. in Wapwallopen. Featuring are a variety of vendors and local artisans selling a variety of homemade items, home goods, jewelry, collectibles and more. The bake sale will offer an array of homemade goodies. There will also be plenty of homemade food, including homemade soups, wimpies, halushki and more available for purchase while you shop. It’s not too early to start Christmas shopping! CAR SHOW PLUS ANYTHING WITH WHEELS

Emmanuel UCC is holding a Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 10. (The show begins at noon). Cars, motorcycles and anything with wheels of all makes, models and ages are welcome. Registration fee is $10. There will be Trophies Awarded, 50/50, basket raffles, door prizes, and food available for purchase along with DJ Carol & JT. CREATE YOUR OWN WELCOME SIGN PAINTING PARTY

Paint your very own five foot tall Welcome Sign. It’s easy – local artist Kelly Panisak Billig will walk you through how to do it. No painting experience necessary. All the materials, including the Welcome Sign, are included. Refreshments will be provided. Cost is $40 per person. The painting party will be held on Sept. 11 at 2:30 p.m. in The Common Room at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, 3085 Church Road, Mountain Top. MOUNTAIN TOP SOCIAL CLUB MEETINGS

The September meetings of the Mountain Top Social Club will be Sept. 13 and 27. The meetings are held at the American Legion Post No. 781, in Mountain Top, at 1:30 p.m. Parking and entrance to the building will be from the rear parking lot. The Mountain Top Knights of Columbus will hold a charity golf tournament on Saturday, September 17 at Sand Springs Country Club in Drums with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Fee is $85 per person. The Marian Sutherland Kirby Library will be holding a 5K run/walk fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 18. Race start is 9 a.m., and will begin and at at the library, 35 Kirby Ave.. CONQUER THE MOUNTAIN 5K

The Rotary Club of Mountain Top will hold their annual 5K Run/Walk event, Conquer the Mountain, on Saturday, September 24, 2022. This year, a portion of the profits will go toward the prevention of drug abuse and suicides. A prevention program called “Too Good for Drugs” will be presented by the “Pathways to Recovery” Program at the Crestwood School District. The event will be held at the Wright Township Municipal Park. The ‘Walk’ begins at 9:45 a.m., the “Run” at 10 a.m., and the ‘Fun Run/Walk’ at 10:30 a.m. (The Fun Run/Walk does not have hills, and is not timed, and medals are not awarded). WALK FOR THE ANIMALS

The SPCA of Luzerne County will hold its 31st annual Walk for the Animals on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Frances Slocum State Park. Registration is at 9 a.m. The walk and blessing of the animals begins at 11 a.m. All dogs must be wearing a suitable collar or harness and must be ketp on a leash at all times. All dogs must be 6 months old or older. No female digs in season will be allowed. Water, pet treats and clean-up bags will be provided. Registration fee is $20 per walker or $100 for a team of up to seven people ($15 per additional walker on a team). CHILDREN’S FISHING DERBY

The Blytheburn Lake Association will holt its annual Children’s Fishing Derby from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 9 at Lake Blytheburn. The event is for children 12 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Fishing will be off the dam and along the shore line. Bait will be provided. Refreshments will b e served and prizes awarded.
