Crestwood High School honored former football player Martin Bibla before the start of the Comets’ first game of the season against Valley View on Friday night.

Bibla, a 1997 graduate of Crestwood, was a first-team high school all-American at Crestwood. He went on to play at the University of Miami, earning All-Big East honors in 2001 as an offensive lineman. In 47 collegiate games, Bibla never allowed a quarterback sack.

He was drafted in the fourth round of the NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons, where he played for four season. He also spent time with the Denver Bronocs.

After his NFL career ended, Bibla continued to play football. He spent two season’s with Jon Bon Jovi’s Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League, earning first team All-Arena in 2008.

He then played for the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League, winning a championship with the team.

Bibla’s No. 75, which he wore while he was a Comet, will be retired by the school at the end of the season.

He is currently stationed a Pennsylvania State Trooper andl resides in Mountain Top Pa with his wife, Anna, and five children, Magnus, Lincoln, Mariusz, Marin, and Quinn.
