Mountain Top’s National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Wright Township Park. The event is sponsored by Fairview, Rice and Wright townships police departments.
Law enforcement participants will include representatives of the three police departments, U.S. Marshal’s Service, Pennsylvania Game Commission and Pennsylvania State Police, Hazleton. Fire departments from across Mountain Top will have equipment on display.
Community organizations scheduled to participate include Rotary Club of Mountain Top, Huntzinger Karate, Lehigh Valley Health Care, Northeast Highway Safety, Victims Resource Center, Murielle’s Place, Soul Shine, Mountain Top Historical Society and CDE Exotics.
The KRZ Skybox will provide entertainment. There will be free pony rides for children, face painting and fingerprinting. Helicopters from Geisinger Health System and Lehigh Valley Health Network are scheduled to make an appearance. There also will be food trucks available.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. The goal of National Night Out is to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.
