The Rev. Dr and Mrs. James L. Harring of Mountain Top observed their 70th wedding anniversary on Palm Sunday. They were married on April 10, 1952 in the St. Paul Evangelical United Brethren Church Mount Carmel PA by the Rev. E.B. Harris.
The couple met while very young in the Sunday School department of the church and remained active participants in the life of the church until moving from that area. They graduated from Mount Carmel High School class of 1946.
Dr. Harring is the son of the late Leroy and Miriam Harring. He is a graduate and trustee emeritus of Albright College class of 1952, United Seminary 1955, and Drew University 1977. He served as Pastor of the Albright United Methodist Church for 30 years, Chaplain of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 37 years and Minister of Pastoral Care of the Church of Christ Uniting in Kingston for 18 years.
Mrs. Harring is the former Doris Schucker and is the daughter of the late James and Emma Schucker. She was employed for 10 years with the Bell Telephone Company. She was active for many years as a Girl Scout Leader and was an officer of the United Methodist Women of Wyoming Conference. She was always a true help mate in her husband’s ministry.
The couple have two daughters, Carol and Cathy (Mrs. Richard) Hannis and two grandsons Steven and Eric Hannis.
