Jars of peanut butter, canned spaghetti sauce, pasta and cereal; all things you would find in a donation box for the local food pantry. Balloons, vegetable oil, cake pan, streamers; usually not among those items collected. Yet the Saint Jude eighth-grade class decided that is just what they should collect to help those in need. Often food pantries do not stock items for visiting families to help them have a happy birthday. The eighth-grade class had the school community donate various items and the class then assembled the goodies into a “birthday in a bag” celebration. Items will be donated to local food pantries.
