St. Patrick’s Day (and the days leading up to it) is a big day for the Irish around Mountain Top as well as for local restaurants and pubs.

As usual, Cavanaugh’s Grille on North Main Street has a lot going on for St. Patrick’s Day. Owner Jim Foley said his fabulous outside bar will open at 2 p.m. as well as the inside bar with plenty of Irish food and entertainment.

The St. Patrick’s Day menu includes ham and cabbage, corned beef and cabbage, corned beef Reuben sandwich, Irish nachos and potato and leek soup.

The Emerald Isle Step Dancers will perform at 6 p.m. followed by the Ceol More Pipe and Drum Band. The Vine Street Band will perform starting at 7 p.m. Get there early because Cavanaugh’s won’t be taking reservations on St. Patrick’s Day.

Mountain Top’s newest eating and drinking establishment, Mountain Top Pub and Eatery (formerly the Shalimar) will host the Ceol Mor Pipe and Drum Band at 5 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day. Co-owner Carrie Kline said the pub’s St. Patrick’s Day menu will feature corned beef and cabbage along with Reuben sandwiches. A special Irish desert will be chocolate Bailey’s cupcakes. Kline also said bartenders Chuck and Lexy will be mixing unique drinks throughout the day.

The Ice House Pub will have a special St. Patrick’s Day menu as well, according to owner Jim Mack. The pub will host a bagpipe band on Friday evening, March 11.
